Is slanted to Randall's Tallow Tree Advancer for several reasons:
1. In fairness, I haven't had a chance to try Tormek's "new" advancer. It
came out, strangely enough, well after the Tallow Tree Advancer. Tallow Tree
works so well that I figure the best any one else could do would be an
equivalent performance. I had a Tallow Tree advancer months before Tormek came
out with theirs. Product performance is really good, the guarntee is
unbelievable. I'm just not convinced there could be a better product or better
service out there anywhere.
2. The Tallow Tree advancer leaves the stone smooth enough that very little if
any touch up need be done with the stone grader. I doubt anyone would argue
that point...."

"Absolutely fabulous and devilishly simple device. The Tormek stone levelling tool was always such a pain and never,in my experience, yielde a truly flat stone. It always had some ridges/gouges where my hand slipped or the pressure was uneven as I went across the stone. I now have a stone that is perfectly flat and parallel to the tool support and in an incredibly short amount of time. In fact, it took me longer to remember how to set-up the Tormek diamond tool than it took to flatten the stone and I even took 2 passes since it was in such sad shape to start with."

"I haven't used the planer/jointer jig, but my thinking is that the Tallow Tree Advancer will make planer/jointer blade sharpening more accurate by eliminating the need to make heavy use of the stone grader to remove the marks left by the diamond. From my experience, there is an excellent opportunity to screw up the angle of the stone's face by using the grader (since it's hand held), In the past i've felt grading was needed to get rid of the serrated surface left by hand pushing the dresser across the stone. Using the Tallow Tree unit should increase accuracy by eliminating or minimizing the hand grading step. Going straight from the dressing step to grinding the blades, i think, allows for a more reliable parallel relationship between the stone face and the universal support."

"I finally tried out this thing and now I wonder why I waited so long
to get one. I've never been able to maintain a consistent and slow
feed of the truing tool across the wheel & as a result, have not
gotten very good truing results in the past. This thing allows me to
feed the truing tool across the wheel at a consistent slow pace (about
3-4 minutes per pass).
Some of you who are more manually dextrous than I may find this jig
superfluous, but as for me, I think it is a great accessory."
