2) Superior wheel truing. Many times some operators under-estimate the importance of a properly dressed grinding wheel. Add to this the inferior, and often difficult, method of pushing a diamond across a wheel by hand to dress it. The effectiveness of this method is, at best, marginal. Especially in view of the fact that the TORMEK grinding wheel turns only at 90 rpm (120 rpm on 1200 series). Thus truing is a slow process which requires patience and a good deal of effort and attention from the operator. Using the Truing Tool Advancer jig will provide the best wheel truing for, not only the novice, but seasoned operators as well, since it provides the same great results regardless of the operator's skill.

3) Increased wheel and grader life. The hand method of truing many times leaves the wheel with gouges, lines and missed spots along the surface. These must be removed before using the grinder. At present, this is accomplished by using the hand-held stone grader. This action wears down the grader and the wheel when eliminating these flawed areas of the wheel. Using the Truing Tool Advancer jig minimizes the need for using the stone grader after truing because the wheel is perfectly smooth. No lines. No gouges. No missed spots.

4) Ease of use. Simply slide the Truing Tool Advancer jig onto the Universal Support and tighten it. It is then ready to use. The ADV-50D or DT-1 Diamond Truing Tool is mounted and secured normally. Not only can you set the recommended Universal Tool Support height using Truing Tool Advancer jig, but when secured in position, it automatically sets the truing tool (diamond) position just ahead of the wheel's edge.
There is no guesswork as to where to position the truing tool so that the entire wheel is dressed. The Truing Tool Advancer jig is installed completely assembled. No need to remove the feed screw first. However, the feed screw may need to be retracted if not in its original position. For example, if the wheel was trued one way only then stopped.

5) Operator safety. When the Truing Tool Advancer jig is secured into position, the feed screw is long enough so that the feed screw's handle extends well beyond the grinding wheel and the leather honing wheel. The operator's hand remains clear and unobstructed during the entire truing operation, even at its furthest left position.
